How to Prevent Diabetes?

Diabetes
Diabetes as we all know is a disease where blood sugar level increases abnormally and that leads to different kinds of problems. Well, the scientific reason is that pancreas -- one of the organs of our body fails to produce enough insulin to maintain blood glucose level. There are a number of precautions that we can take to avoid this disease. In this and some future blogs, we will be discussing about this problem and some home tips to curb this problem. So, keep reading all the blog posts…

In this post, we are talking about some simple and preventive measures that we can take in our daily lives to avoid the disease. The very first preventive measure is exercise.

Do some exercise everyday: This is one of the most important preventive measures because it helps maintain a healthy BMI (Body Mass Index) and lowers blood glucose level. One does not need to perform a rigorous exercise – a simple 10-15 min workout is more than enough to stay fit and to stay away from diabetes.

Eat more fibers: What we eat determines our health. Just for the sake of eating and fulfilling appetite is not good for health. Eating must be healthy, and full of nutrition. However, in order to avoid diabetes, eating fiber rich food is very effective. Fiber rich food includes nuts, apples, banana, seeds and beans, besides others.
Besides exercise and fiber rich food, there are many other things which we have to either avoid or cut down significantly. For example, alcohols should not be taken daily because it increases blood pressure and triglycerides level. In addition, smoking is another one of the potent causes of diabetes. It is always better to quit smoking. We would not suggest you to simply cut down the number rather one should quit this slow poison.

We all are growing older each day. We are not getting younger and therefore, with time, we have to change our lifestyle. As we cross 30, we must go for regular medical checkups. Many of us think that it is too early to go for medical checkups, but the earlier the better.

In our next post, we would talk about home tips to ward off diabetes.
