How to get rid of dry skin problem this winter season?

Winter has stepped in and this means it will dry off your body skin. During winter season, the sebaceous glands function slows down leaving your skin less protected and less efficient to hold moisture. In this cool weather, you are not only exposed to low temperature, dry air outdoors, and chilly wind, but also to artificially heated air indoors. Both these conditions make your skin dehydrated. Moisturizing lotions, oils, and creams hydrate your skin and thereby prevent water loss when you are exposed to these elements.

Some key ingredients you should look for in winter products are hyaluronic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, glycerin, and panthenol (Vitamin B₅). Besides using winter products, bathe and shower in warm, and avoid drying soaps. Use gentle cleansers on your face and body. According to some medical experts, recurrent hot showers tend to dry the skin, and make the skin at risk to infection.

Exfoliate your body skin – it should be done once in a week for dry skin, and 2 to 3 times for oily skin. Exfoliation removes dead surface skin plus helps stimulate new skin growth. In addition, moisturize your body soon after taking a bath with nutrient-rich lotions, oils, or creams. Almond and grape seed oils are considered as the best quick fixer for dry skin. If your skin is awfully dry then it would be better to use avocado oil.

Maintain your body’s skin moisture all through the winter season and keep looking gorgeous as ever.
